Memorial Day Weekend Camping At Skagit River
We kicked off the camping season with a Memorial Day weekend camping trip to my dad's Skagit River property in Concrete this weekend, along with my dad, two of his friends and one of Albert's friends. It was SO beautiful, sunny, warm, relaxing, and fun!!! The kids LOVE going camping and were so excited to find out we were going! We didn't decide on going until Tuesday, and we left on Friday. On Saturday, we drove up to Baker Lake and hiked up to the hot springs, which wasn't much. It was a LONG 4-wheeling' drive just to hike about 1/4 of a mile to the hot spring, which was one little hole in the ground with smelly sulfur water. We weren't impressed, but it was a fun adventure. Then on Sunday morning, we all headed down to the beach that we found last time we were camping up there. We had fun with our new slingshots trying to shoot rocks over to the other side of the river and skipping them in the water, making sand castles, and finding cool sticks and rocks. Then, Albert, Isabella and Albert's friend David who came with us, drove up to Diablo Dam and Anthony and I stayed and relaxed in the sunshine at the campsite. The scenery there is amazing!!! The greenery and flowers, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and dams are everywhere around us and it is so beautiful! It is so awesome having this amazing get-a-way just an hour from our house!! Thank you dad for sharing your little piece of paradise! :)
